Welcome

The Blue & White Rope Skippers is a club established in 1990 to promote the fast growing sport of rope skipping. The club, based in a small Warwickshire village called Studley, currently has 60+ members, male & female, ranging in age from six to sixty+.

It was in 1989 that a group of young athletes from U.S.A.F. Upper Heyford visited Studley Junior School to introduce the art of rope skipping. An interest was shown at that time, by a teacher from the school, Roger Smithies, & the following year, named after the school colours, the club was formed.

The story goes that the sport originated in the U.S. during the 60's when a college football team was ordered to jump rope as part of their keep fit programme when it was too cold to train outside. One of the players got bored with hopping up & down so he started some fancy footwork. The craze soon caught on.
