Q. How does my son or daughter join the Blue and White Rope Skippers?

Q. How much does it cost?
A. 1 X Training session a week - £3.00 per week
2 X Training sessions a week - £15 per month
3 X Training sessions a week - £20 per month
4 X Training sessions a week - £25 per month
Annual Membership per member - £25
Q. What kit do I need?
A. To start skipping you will need a pair of trainers and a skipping rope.

Q. Is transport provided?
A. Transport is not provided unless travelling abroad. We are always looking for the help of parrents and you may wish to become a nominated driver for the club.
Q.
Who supervises the training sessions?
A. Sue has been at the club since 1996 and is now Head Coach. She is also Secretary of the British Rope Skipping Association. She lives in Studley with husband Chris (Chair of BWRS and the British Rope Skipping Association) and 3 children of whom 2 are BWRS team members. Sue travels nationally to teach rope skipping to teachers and pupils in schools.
Q. What is the Code of Conduct for BWRS members?
A.
- Turn up on time for all practices and events. Don't let your team down.
- Be prepared - bring all the kit you will need.
- Pay your subscription on time - the club needs the money to keep going!
- Listen carefully to instructions.
- Deliver any forms and letters promptly to your Parent/Guardian.
- Let Coaches know if you cannot make practice.
- Try your hardest no matter what.
- Respect yourself - if you weren't good at skipping - you wouldn't be here.
- Never think anyone is better than you.
- Respect every member of the team - skippers and coaches.
- Encourage each other.
- Work together - we are a team.
- TRIUMPH is a bit of TRY added by UMPH!
- When you are out on trips, remember you are representing your team.
- Never be embarrassed to say your scores.
Q. Can we do tricks?
A. There are in excess of 2000 official skipping combinations or tricks. They can involve swinging the rope between your legs, over your head, behind your back or even skipping on your bottom. Most moves are identified by the inventor's initials.
The Blue & Whites have had a number of tricks initialed after their club members.
The J.G. Circle, a trick invented by two skippers Jaye Reed & Georgie Lord, where one circles the other using two ropes in the Chinese Wheel format.
Another trick, the L.S. Cross, a single rope discipline, where the rope is tucked under the arm from the front & recovered using the same hand from behind, invented by Laura Summers.
Any new combination is recorded & sent to the U.S. for verification.
CONSTITUTION
- The club shall be known as “ The Blue and White Rope Skippers” which
may be at times shortened to “ The Blue and whites”.

The club will continue to be based at Studley Church of England Junior
School subject to the governing bodies continued approval. Members will
abide by Studley Church of England Junior School rules using the
premises.

The aims as objectives of the club shall be to promote health, fitness, fun,
co-operation and understanding of people through the sport of Rope
Skipping. This shall be achieved through workshops, shows, skipping
camps and tournaments. The club shall also develop both children and
adults as athletes.

The Annual General meeting shall be held on a date fixed by the
committee during September each year. Each member will be sent notice
of such a meeting not later than 14 days before the date. Such notice shall
include an agenda containing all items for discussion and decision.
The quorum at a General Meeting shall be 12 and voting shall be open to
all members except in case of election of the committee.

Election of the club’s committee and officers shall be carried out by a
democratic vote of the members at the club’s Annual General Meeting.
The initial committee will consist of Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, and
a minimum of four other adult members and two junior members. All club
skippers will be eligible to vote for the two Junior committee positions.
Other club members may be co-opted to the committee if required subject
to approval by the committee.
The club coach will also reside on the committee and have full voting
rights. This position has automatic election and will not require re-election
each year.
The quorum for a committee meeting shall be 5 members.
The committee is responsible for the running of the club.
The elected committee shall be responsible for fund raising through
arranging sponsorship, workshops, displays, sale of merchandise etc.,
media relations and social functions. Funds raised will go towards uniform,
transport, catering, accommodation, events and insurance.

Candidates for Club Membership shall complete the application form,
which shall be submitted to the Secretary for acceptance by the
committee. A new member may be accepted at any time of the year,
subject to committee approval.
Members shall be elected to the club upon the approval of the committee
and subject to the member accepting to abide by the club rules.

The club holds two bank accounts at Midland Bank plc., Studley.
Signatories are listed at the bank to run the accounts, any two of which
may sign cheques on behalf of the Club who are elected officers (except
juniors).
Should the Club be disbanded, the committee shall give instructions for
the disposal of any assets remaining after satisfying any outstanding debts
and liabilities. These assets shall not be distributed amongst the members
of the club.
The treasurer shall be responsible for keeping accounts and all Income
and Expenditure and shall present a Financial Report at all committee
meetings, and present the accounts duly audited by a qualified
independent person for approval by the members at the AGM. The club
financial year runs from 1 September to 31 August.

The liability of the club towards members in the event of injury, death,
hospitalisation or paralysis shall be covered by insurance taken by the
BRSA as the club is a member.

The club is affiliated to the European Rope Skipping Organisation (ERSO).
The club also supports The British Heart Foundation.

Any changes to the constitution of the club will only be through annual or
extraordinary general meeting. Copies of the proposed changes will be
circulated to all members at least 14 days before any such meeting as will
notice of the meeting. Changes will only be accepted subject to the vote of
the quorum of the members.

The committee shall have the power to decide any matter in dispute, and
anything occurring which is not provided for in the foregoing rules.

The club also holds a travel insurance policy covering medical expenses,
cancellation cost and repatriation costs.
